Two weeks from now, I am going to be hit by a small fragment of meteor. It will penetrate my skull and scramble my brain. Although I am aware of my death, I can look back on my life without regret. The basement of my home is where my bedroom used to be. I would oversleep because there was no sign of sun-light anywhere in this room, which lead to my biological clock becoming highly confused. This lead to depression and cabin fever, since all of my sources of entertainment were located the basement. Eventually I had to move upstairs because I was going crazy, and this could have been avoided if I had the money to install windows on the outside walls. My family and I are moving to our new house in the next few weeks. I’m very excited but there is one more important thing that we need to accomplish: buy accessories for it. So, I made a general list of what I wanted to get and have in our new home.
We have already purchased the sofa, the dining table, beds, and all the other essentials. This list will only include items that, I believe will add color and life to our home. We still need additional lampshades for the living room and the bedrooms. I was also thinking of having colored flower vases to complement the bland colors of our living room furniture. Of course, we have to get the generic items like picture frames, curtains or blinds, I’m not yet sure, candles and throw pillows. Also, having even a single fine piece of art would be an exciting thing.

I have travelled, seen many countries, met many people, and been involved in business. But I have much more to do. Too many years I spent dealing with material things. Important, yes, but there’s so much more. I want to spend my time helping my friends, neighbors, community, the country and the environment. The environment needs all of our help and concern. But too many people are too caught up in the demands of day-to-day living to be able to do anything. We must all fight back against the onslaught of corporate money seeking to deny the reality of climate change and how we all contribute to it. It is only when I’ve made a meaningful contribution to helping in all these areas that I will feel fulfilled.

I have painted for most of my life and even before I started going to primary school. I have also delved a little into digital photography. These are the two things that I am most interested in that when I wake up in the morning, I get excited to do either of the two.

Since I have been painting for some time, I can say I already have a considerable number of pieces in my collection. I’ll admit that they’re nothing very grand, though. Most of them I have made for and given to my friends and family. Some of the items that I like the most are displayed at home. I love my city. It’s old (by California standards at least), has many beautiful bungalows and a nice historic district. But the best part is the trees. Every day when I see them I say a word of thanks for the city forester who planted them long ago. And we have a great new walking trail which makes use of an abandoned railroad right-of-way. As my city’s new forester, I would increase the budgets for tree maintenance and planting programs. Every block that didn’t have trees would get them. Our city would celebrate its natural heritage through tours and festivals. I would seek funds to purchase vacant lots to be converted to parks. We would become one of the greenest cities in California.

Anagrams to me was more than a game when I was a child. I still remember sitting around a card table with my parents, cousins, aunts and uncles. I was a bookish type. Loved reading the encyclopedia, magazines, you name it. I loved (and miss) the company and companionship of those “Anagram afternoons”. Learning about new words, suffering through my dad’s and uncle’s latest terrible puns, making use of what I had just learned in school. For many growing up meant sports. But for me and my family board games were the thing. And Anagrams was the best: words, learning, family, companionship. I still miss those games.
